WORK IN PROGRESS
The organisation is dynamic and no two days are ever the same!
There is always ‘work in progress’, and this includes:
- Personalisation allows service users and carers to decide how their social care money will be spent by allocating them a Personal Budget. Personal Budgets will give service users greater choice and flexibility and care providers will need to change the way in which they work to respond to this. We run two committees (Care Development Committee and Service User Reference Committee) to ensure that both groups are supported through these changes and are involved in shaping Personalisation in Solihull. We also provide awareness-raising talks on Personalisation
- we have recently purchased our own electronic survey equipment, which can be utilised in a range of surveys and consultations. We are able to analyse this data and produce in-depth reports. We involve volunteers in this process wherever possible. We were recently commissioned to carry out surveys for Solihull LINks and Solihull Council
- we are carrying out a large-scale survey aimed at engaging disabled people in the Borough, particularly those who are ‘hard to reach’ (those who are not currently receiving support). We want to find out what the key concerns and interests of disabled people are and where they go to seek help and advice
- producing a user-led newsletter with articles and content directed and written by local disabled people
- striving to provide a central, focal point within the sector for health and disability issues
- working towards a Centre of Independent Living for disabled people in Solihull
